| Notes | ID: WARR2002; Since the first edition in 1971 Peter Warrs collection of reviews by recognised authorities have charted for students / practitioners the development of occupational or workplace psychology in the UK. This collection attempts a mid 1990s position reconizing the shift in working practices and employment but perhaps just preceeding the so called 'knowledge management' revolution. Those looking for easy answers will not find them. The topic is afterall complex and much of the book does not concerne performance. The author's own chapter does cite reviews suggesting correlations between employees' sense of well being / satisfaction and performance though he is careful to point out that we cannot assume the former causes the latter. The correlation is higher for managerial and professional workers. More likely to be used by students / researchers (for whom it is an excellent starting reference) than built environment practitioners |
