Personality at work: The role of individual differences in the workplace
| Type | Book, Whole |

| Author(s) | Furnham,A. |
| Publication year | 1992 |
| Notes | ID: FURNHAM1992; A very comphrensive academic review of older research in this area. In 423 pages office design gets mentioned twice, once to make the suggestion that $organisations that admite extroverts (such as the media) may well increase productivity in open plan offices while those that attract introverts (such as universities) may have to provide places of limited external simulation. $McElroy et al. (1983) are cited in support. Even if the above simplification (from the stance of a psychologist) is a useable rule of thumb (from the viewpoint of the manager) it highlights an area apparently neglected in all subsequent work place studies. |
