| Notes | ID: BAYLISS1997; A report by the RSA looking at the wider trends of changing work practices, primarily from the view point of the individual. Argues that traditional 'jobs' will continue to dissappear and that flexible / virtual work is bound to increase. Employers are in effect transferring business risk to individuals, on the other hand, at least for knowledge workers, organisations face problems of retention and continuity when the loyalty associated with traditonal working patterns has evaporated. Intermediary agencies may take the opportunity to manage careers and secure deals for their agents. Governments will need to change traditional tax, insurance and pension policies for the new worker. Teleworking and other forms of flexibility are predicted to grow inevitably. |
