Total Workplace Performance. Rethinking The Office Environment

Type Book, Whole
Author(s) Aronoff,S. , Kaplan,A.
Publication year 1995
Notes ID: 2; One of the earlier and more thought provoking books on the new workplace environment. White collar productivity stagnation and the rise of information technology in the years from 1975 to ca. 1990 are explicitly linked, however the authors' remind us of a similar lag in real gains from the introduction of electricity intyo manufacturing in the early part of the twentieth century. Only when infrastructure designed for the steam era was replaced could the real benefits be achieved. They also offer a good summary on the difficulties of asking people about the influence of environment on productivity. Negative factors are likely to be reported. Positive ones are not. Features of which occupants are unaware may have a significant impact.; RP: IN FILE
