| Notes | ID: DUFFY2000; In one sense Duffy's contribution remains what it was in 1990, a clarion call for nes offices which escape the Taylorist lergacy that he perceives to be still casting its shadow over the modern working environment. This is a convincing argument, but elsewhere in Duffy's text the sceptic can detect limgering traces og the legacy, as in remarks that staff are trained to accept a management vision. One of his cases (Bob Ayling at BA) has subsequently departed amidst press reports of a management style that failed to achieve the envisioned cultural change. In Myerson's (1997) terms Waterside may be more moderniser than 'mould=breaker'. This is not to criticise Daffy but rather to propose the resistance is more deeply embedded than he imagines. |
